A Heartwarming, true story. Set in the 90’s, Save the Cinema is inspired by the life of Liz Evans, (Samantha Morton), a hairdresser & linchpin to the local community in the small town of Carmarthen in Wales. Her Mission is to stop The Lyric Theatre from being demolished by bulldozers and turned into a shopping centre. Liz & Friends barricade themselves in the Cinema, and with the help of postman -turned - Local Councillor Richard, (Tom Felton) they come up with a grand plan! A desperate Liz persuades Richard to write to Hollywood to ask for a helping hand to revitalise the cinema and stop the Council from taking away the heart of the Community. A phone call later an Influential Film-maker agrees to offer a very special treat to Carmarthen, but does this help save the future of The Lyric? Save the Cinema will have you laughing out loud one minute & wiping a tear away a moment later…

Gillian Anderson (Sex Education), Vanessa Kirby (The Crown), and Ben Foster (Lone Survivor) lead the cast in Tennessee Williams’ timeless masterpiece, returning to cinemas. As Blanche’s fragile world crumbles, she turns to her sister Stella for solace – but her downward spiral brings her face to face with the brutal, unforgiving Stanley Kowalski.
From visionary director Benedict Andrews, this acclaimed production was filmed live during a sold-out run at the Young Vic Theatre in 2014.

A showcase of a remarkable building, celebrating the stories of its uses and users. There will be exhibitions of its changing life and structure, the chance to go backstage and live performances, including a vintage vocalist, throughout the day.
From its origins as a centre for public entertainment with reading rooms and a rifle range, to its noble service as a V.A.D hospital during World War I, the hall has stood as a silent witness to our town's history. Renovated after World War II as a memorial to those who served, it has been the cherished home of Merrydays Montessori Nursery and Henley Drama Society, amongst others, since the 1950s.
The hall has hosted countless celebrations, meetings, and milestones that have shaped our community's story. Join us for this special day as we recognise the rich history of this modest building and celebrate the dedicated custodians and patrons who have enjoyed and cared for this hall for over a century.
Come and discover the stories within the walls, there may be some local (and not so local!) names you recognise and we’d love for you to share your memories too.
